Grade II House
Surrey
This new build extension aimed to respond to the distinct architectural features of this Grade II House with a contemporary approach, in order to remodel and extend a family house in a sensitive green belt site.
In addition, the extension materially responds to its vernacular informants of traditional materials in the guise of hand cut clay tiles, brick and lime mortar & green oak, while on the other hand, it expresses itself through its frameless glass pyramid dormer, seamless glass link and frameless glass clerestory.
It is the combination of these elements that helped this design be nominated and reach the final shortlist in Waverley Borough Councils Design Awards 2009.
